247 Airport Transfer has announced that it will start accepting cryptocurrency payments.

Cryptocurrency – or digital currency – has caused a lot of controversy lately, making regular headlines because of its unexpected price fluctuations.

Nevertheless,  major companies from different industries are heading towards accepting cryptocurrencies as a method of payment. However, their number is still low, understandable if we consider the volatility of their value and the tax implications that need to be considered.

The latest company in the United Kingdom that announced they will accept cryptocurrency payments is the minicab/private car hire business – 247 Airport Transfer. They stated that, by the end of the year, customers will also be able to use their Ethereum and Litecoin wallets to pay for their journeys. Until then, only Bitcoin and Travelflexcoin are accepted.

Why accept crypto?

“Cryptocurrency can be the future of all transactions,” 247 Airport Transfer’s chairman, Ionel Tanasa, said.

“A lot of people are investing their money in digital currencies, so it makes sense to offer them the opportunity to pay for their airport transfers using this method.”

Accepting cryptocurrency is an enormous and risky step for the company, but it’s one the company is taking simply because customers want it.

“International travelers must deal with multiple currencies and the burden of exchange rates, that’s why they will be relieved to find out that at least in London they can pay for their transport services in a simple, safe manner, with no bank fees. Customers that are still sceptical can pay Cash, by Credit/Debit Card, Bank Transfer or PayPal”.
