Advanced Proteins has improved compliance, cost tracking, and operational efficiency by integrating the AssetGo fleet management software.
Headquartered in Cheddleton, with additional sites in Willand and Brassington, Advanced Proteins provides animal by-product collection solutions. Its fleet consists of more than 50 HGVs, 212 trailers, and several light commercial vehicles.
The company adopted AssetGo’s fleet and driver compliance management system in 2021 to manage daily vehicle checks and service schedules.
Adrian Spencer-Hicks, transport training and data manager, said: “We brought it in to digitise our daily walkaround checks and make them more efficient. We can now verify that drivers are completing their checks correctly and even see how long they’ve spent on each check. If, for example, it’s less than 10 minutes, then we know it hasn’t been done properly.”
He added: “We also use it to keep on top of our scheduled PMI checks, MOT dates, LOLER inspections, and tachograph calibration dates – which is a bit of a task with a fleet the size of ours, but the level of visibility is great. We can see exactly what’s going on with the trucks and trailers all the time, making sure that we are compliant at all times.”
AssetGo’s software specialises in core fleet management compliance tasks. The system aims to enhance visibility for fleet operators by managing key activities such as daily vehicle checks, accident reporting, offsite fuel tracking, servicing, vehicle defect management, and licence checking.
Advanced Proteins expanded its use to plant machinery and site-based assets, including JCB loaders, forklifts, and small electric pump trucks.
Spencer-Hicks said: “We initially rolled it out for our HGVs and trailers, but its effectiveness prompted us to extend it to all our plant assets.
“Now, the majority of our plant machinery is logged in the system, and operators are required to complete digital checks just as they are for our road-going vehicles.
“The team at AssetGo is always quick to respond and ready to help. Their willingness to adapt the system to meet our specific needs makes a huge difference.”
