ALD says its has seen a huge leap in its own staff choosing electrified vehicles as company cars: PHEV selection has risen from 13% in 2017 to 67%.
The company said the move towards PHEVs was having a beneficial effect on its carbon footprint.
The fleet CO2 had reduced from 109g/km to 64.9g/km. According to SMMT’s 2018 CO2 report, the national average is 121g/km – an increase over the year previousl.
ALD Fleet Consultant, Mark Evans, said:
“We have long been extolling the benefits of Alternative Fuel Vehicles as company cars. Many of our employees have embraced the fact that a PHEV is the ideal solution that fits with their driving habits. They are keen to do their bit for the environment, while leading the charge for others to follow suit.”
Evans said the Kia Niro had proven the most popular with the ALD staff. “It has an electric range of approximately 36 miles, and CO2 of just 29g/km,” added Evans.
“When applied to suitable driver profiles and used correctly, through regular charging, PHEVs are not only viable but desirable as company cars.”
ALD has doubled the number of charging points available at its Bristol head office. A number of drivers were taking advantage of the government home charger grant, while others were planning to use a 3 pin charging at home.
