The 4C is an out and out performance car. Masses of grip, no body roll to speak of, and 60 comes up in about 4 seconds

What is it?

It’s a two-door coupe from Alfa Romeo, priced to rival models like the Porsche Cayman and Lotus Exige.

Alfa has kept weight low by fitting the 4C with a carbon fibre tub just like the one on the McLaren 12C. Fuelled and ready to go, the 4C weighs just over 900kg, which is seriously impressive when tiny city cars even struggle to get below 1000kg these days.

Since it’s so light it doesn’t really need a big engine, so Alfa has fitted a 1.75-litre turbocharged unit, which provides more than enough performance for most.

It’s also utterly gorgeous to look at. Think small Ferrari
