ALPHABET has appointed Chargemaster as its official electric vehicle (EV) charging partner in the UK.

Alphabet is one of the UK’s leading proponents of alternative powertrain vehicles, with a fleet of 8,000 electric and hybrid vehicles. Last year the company was responsible for over 10% of all OLEV-grant eligible vehicles in the UK.

Chargemaster, which is the largest provider of charging infrastructure in the UK, installed more than 30,000 home charging units last year. It also operates the country’s most comprehensive public charging network, POLAR, which gives EV drivers access to more than 5,500 charge points nationwide.

David Bushnell, product manager for Alphabet commented: “Our partnership with Chargemaster is a natural strategic fit for Alphabet. Alphabet is an organisation which has led the market in terms of low and zero emission vehicles over the past few years, demonstrating our belief and confidence in EVs.

“Alphabet customers have been repeatedly recognised as some of the most forward thinking and greenest fleets in the country. From a fleet performance perspective, it’s no surprise that these are also the most fuel efficient, low emission and cost-conscious operations in the UK today.

“Customers will benefit from the new partnership with Chargemaster in a multitude of ways – whether that is in their joined-up approach to workplace and home charging installation, a dedicated nationwide team of installers or the access to over 85% of the UK’s public charging network.

Through our AlphaElectric 360 degree consultancy approach we help customers understand that putting the right workplace, home and on-the-move charging infrastructure in place is absolutely critical to the successful implementation of EVs and PHEVs into corporate, public sector and SME vehicle fleets. For us it’s one of four key pillars to our AlphaElectric approach, which also includes Fleet Analysis, Vehicle Selection and Mobility Services.”

Calvey Taylor-Haw, director of partnerships at Chargemaster, explained: “We’re very pleased to have secured this partnership with the UK’s leading leasing and fleet management company for low emission vehicles.

“We work in partnership with leading OEMs in every market segment to support the growth of EVs and PHEVs, and see this relationship with Alphabet as a key part of helping to make EV charging simple and accessible to corporate, public sector and SME organisations.

“Our technical expertise, 24/7 customer support and innovative UK-based design and manufacturing will help support fleet decision makers, company car drivers and employees with the practicalities of switching to electric or hybrid vehicles. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with Alphabet and their customers to help fuel the evolution to electric mobility and smarter, more sustainable transport.”
