Autohorn Fleet Services has launched a dedicated website for the Richard Baines Foundation, a charitable trust established with a £1m donation from Autohorn to support projects in York.

The York-based fleet services provider set the website live this month to provide easy access to foundation information and enable online grant applications.

The Richard Baines Foundation was launched in September as part of Autohorn’s 30th anniversary celebrations, in memory of the company’s late co-founder Richard Baines, who passed away in 2020.

Lee Underwood, managing director of Autohorn Fleet Services, said: “We’re delighted to have the Richard Baines Foundation website live and be able to encourage more funding applications.

“The Foundation is designed to support deserving projects in York that reflect Richard’s core values – community, education and health.

“It’s encouraging that we’ve already received the first batch of requests for grant funding, but we would like to invite more projects to apply for financial support so we can continue to make a real difference in our local community.”

Since its launch, the Foundation has received 10 funding applications – including requests to support sports facility improvements, as well as educational projects.

All applications are reviewed by the trust and undergo comprehensive due diligence to ensure that funds are awarded to the most deserving beneficiaries.

Grants are awarded to York-based individuals and organisations, guided by Baines’ principles of community development, education, and health.

Working in partnership with Autohorn, the Richard Baines Foundation Fund aims to grow through a programme of fundraising events and initiatives.

Central to the Fund is the involvement of Autohorn employees, who nominate charities and causes, and is expected to account for half of the Foundation’s total charitable giving.
