AX has expanded its fleet of replacement vehicles and aims to reinforce its focus on electrification with the purchase of hundreds of vehicles from BMW and MINI.

The accident aftercare specialist is growing its pool of replacement vehicles at its depots across the UK to wanting to ensure drivers receive timely onward mobility following an incident.

The collaboration with BMW aims to see more of its team adopting fully electric vehicles, as AX projects to deepen its commitment to its environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy.

As well as adopting many new BMW 1, 2 and 3 Series models and 25 MINIs, nearly a third (28%) of its order will comprise of electrified vehicles with either fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrains including BMW i4, BMW i5, BMW iX1 and BMW iX2 models.

It has established an EV-for-EV replacement vehicle promise to support its dealer, fleet and insurer partners as the UK transition to alternative powertrains, the expansion of AX’s fleet of electrified vehicles aims for drivers not having to compromise – by stepping back into an internal combustion engine (ICE) car – if their EV is off the road following an incident.

AX’s investment means that support services are available to businesses making the move to EVs, aimed at simplifying the transition and projecting to achieve the UK’s zero emission vehicle (ZEV) targets.

Dan Cripps, fleet and logistics director at AX, said: “The focal point of our business has always been customer service, that is what has enabled us to thrive and will continue to underpin our operations through both our AX and Motor Assist brands.

“With this purchase of hundreds of superb BMW models, we are ensuring that our partners and their drivers will receive the absolute best and most appropriate replacement vehicles in a timely manner.

“It is a real privilege to collaborate with BMW and we are pleased to have such a stable foundation as a business which allows us to add to our fleet to deliver even better customer service.

“We have also taken huge strides to electrify our own company cars, minimising our environmental impact for the long term.

“We have made a concerted effort to establish a robust ESG policy and by adopting more EVs, it represents another step towards greater sustainability.”
