Believ is installing a new ultra-rapid EV charging hub in Blackburn, Aberdeen, as part of efforts to expand high-speed charging infrastructure across northern Scotland.

The site is located on the A96, the main route between Aberdeen and Inverness, and sits beside a coffee shop so drivers can take a break while charging.

Believ will fully fund the installation, operation and maintenance of the hub.

The hub will feature four 240kW dual-socket chargers, enabling up to eight drivers to charge at the same time. Depending on the model of vehicle, most drivers will be able to reach 0–80% charge in under 20 minutes.

The project comes as the Scottish Motor Trade Association reports that battery electric vehicle sales have risen 57% year-to-date compared with 2024, with BEVs now accounting for 13.5% of all new car registrations in Scotland.

Guy Bartlett, Believ CEO, said the new site is designed to meet rising EV demand on one of the region’s busiest routes.

He said: “It is fantastic to see Scotland embracing EVs and we are delighted to be supporting the local community and regular users of this major route with convenient, reliable and accessible charging infrastructure.

“The hub is helping to ensure the transition away from petrol and diesel cars is as easy as possible, in support of our mission to ensure access to sustainable transport and deliver cleaner air for all.”
