What’s not?
- Whilst there’s plenty of space in the front of the 1 Series, rear passengers aren’t quite as well catered for – legroom is tight, as is bootspace!
- The 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine is impressive, but we think there are some refinement issues when fitted in the 1 Series. For example, noticeable three-cylinder vibrations come through both the trim and the gearchange – which is disappointing.
- The standard six-speed manual gearbox fitted to our low mileage review car was notchy – it’s long gearing in EfficientDynamics form can make town driving hard work too.
Verdict on the BMW 116d EfficientDynamics Plus
The BMW 116d EfficientDynamics Plus might cost £850 more than the standard 116 D, but it is money well-spent for business buyers. Despite its still punchy performance, the 1.5-litre diesel’s consumption is boosted from 78.5 to 88.3mpg, while CO2 drops from 94 to 89g/km, keeping company car tax figures affordable and leasing costs competitive.
