Business Car Manager verdict
The BMW i8 definitely feels like the future of sports cars – in fact, you could see this car being released five years from now and still looking advanced.
On electric power, it’s refined and comfortable while in Sport mode it’s a proper hard-edged sports car.
Those jaw-dropping economy figures may be tricky to achieve in the real world but they do have huge implications for company car buyers, who will currently be paying a similar amount of tax to someone driving a BMW 3 Series.
Admittedly, a Porsche 911 is more fun but it just doesn’t have the drama or revolutionary appeal of the i8.
