IT might be a concept but it looks pretty close to how an electric version of BMW’s next X3 should look.
Because at the Beijing Motor Show, BMW debuted this iX3 Concept.
Intriguing, eh?
The BMW Concept iX3 generates maximum output of over 200kW/270hp from its high-voltage 70kW battery.
BMW says the iX3 has a range of 249 miles on the new WLTP cycle.
The high-voltage battery can be fast-charged in just 30 minutes from a 150kW fast-charging station. So there there will be no hanging about.
The BMW iX3 is based on a fully flexible architecture that means all BMWs can be adapted to be front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive in the future and take a variety of different powertrains: pure combustion engine, plug-in hybrid drive system or battery-electric can be integrated into any model.
BMW says that its fully electrified vehicles will in future bear a BMW i brand logo.
Apparently we’ll get to see the production version in 2020 – just in time for when the company car tax bands on zero emission electric cars drop to 2%.
