Speaking at the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) Industry Insight Conference on 4th December, chief executive Toby Poston said the association aims to boost the value of membership in 2026.
The BVRLA plans to provide more operational guidance, provide a free library of contract templates, run a free HR and legal helpline and release a new generation of e-learning solutions.
Poston said: “Our purpose is to be an indispensable resource for our members.
“The burden of regulation and compliance has grown and grown.”
The BVRLA said that 2025 was a record year for campaigning, with three full campaigns, but that it will “campaign harder for all members” in 2026.
It also plans to provide Apprentice Levy training and be easier to work with.
Poston said: “There has been a criminal lack of support from the Chancellor to the used electric vehicle (EV) market.
“The Government is using all the tools in its box to force decarbonisation through.
“Decarbonisation is an all-consuming challenge for our members.”
He said that he felt a “huge weight of responsibility” when he became chief executive in January and that weight had not gone away.
Poston said: “That responsibility gives me and the team a great sense of purpose.”
