The first cars will arrive in the UK on 7th February and orders are open now.

All models have a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor, for a combined 212PS.

Two models will be offered, the entry-level Comfort, with a 12.96kWh battery and an electric range of 38 miles and the Design, with an 18.3kWh battery and a 53.4-mile electric range.

BYD said it expects the Sealion 5 DM-i to be one of its best-selling cars in the UK.

Steve Beattie, deputy country manager at BYD UK, said: “The Sealion 5 strengthens the BYD line-up by offering our most accessible entry point into DM-i PHEV technology to date.

“Its combination of meaningful electric-only range, outstanding efficiency and everyday usability is matched by a starting price that compares favourably against many similarly sized combustion-engine SUVs.

“Crucially, it also delivers the advanced technology and high specification that customers expect from BYD.”
