The C-HR+ SUV leads a trio of new full-electric models unveiled by Toyota, all of which are expected to launch by the end of 2025.

Revealed at the brand’s annual conference in Brussels and based on a concept shown in 2022, the C-HR+ is expected to become a core model in the Toyota line-up. It was originally tipped to be called the bZ3X, in relation to the existing bZ4X in the Toyota line-up.

While having a similar coupe-like profile to the existing C-HR hybrid, the new car is technically completely different to its namesake and measures up 168mm longer.

Toyota states that the ‘+’ in the car’s name signifies the added versatility and practicality it offers over previous models, while adding that it will be fun and rewarding to drive, built on the group’s latest electric car platform with suspension specifically tuned for its on-road dynamics.

Interior space on the new model is being highlighted, with Toyota stating that the 2750mm wheelbase frees up more room than would be typical in a C-segment SUV. Bootspace will extend to 416 litres.

Toyota is also emphasising quality and equipment on the new model – while a full UK specification and pricing is yet to be released, highlights will include a panoramic sunroof, two wireless smartphone chargers and separate USB-C ports and air-conditioning controls for rear-seat occupants.

The C-HR+ will be available in front and all-wheel-drive form, a 57.7kWh battery available for the FWD version only and a 77kWh unit on offer for both FWD and AWD versions. In its most powerful AWD form it will offer 343hp and a 5.2-second 0-62mph time, while the FWD model will be available with either 167 or 224hp depending on battery selected.

Toyota is yet to quote range or recharging times for the C-HR+, but has stated that it will accept DC fast-charging at speeds up to 150kW, and that higher-specification models will have their 11kW onboard charger upgraded to 22kW.

The C-HR+ is expected to launch in the UK towards the end of 2025 while the year will also see the first appearance of the Urban Cruiser and the launch of a facelifted version of the bZ4X large SUV (details here).
