The second hand values of light commercial vehicles are remaining strong.

Auction company BCA said secondhad sale values increased last month.

“If you are a seller, this is as good as it gets,” commented Duncan Ward, UK business development manager – commercial vehicles, BCA.

“Clean vehicles are selling for exceptional money. Even damaged ones will be considered if there is nothing else.”

For small business users, Ward had this advice: “Make the most of it.”

What are the key trends?

  • Premium prices for vans with aircon, metallic paint and satnav
  • Side-loading door critical for car-sized vans
  • Shortage of single cab pick-ups
  • Double cabs still in demand, despite more on the market
  • Big difference in values between ‘private’ 4×4 double cabs and work-damaged vehicles
  • Older models – such as Transit and Ecort – are doing well and are being picked up by tradesmen
  • Luton vans in demand pre-Christmas

Now is the time to sell, says BCA report
