Chevin Fleet Solutions has introduced its Value Loop approach to fleet management, arguing that fleet technology must continuously adapt as operational requirements change rather than focusing primarily on initial implementation.
The fleet management software provider said fleets operating across multiple locations, departments and vehicle types increasingly need systems that can respond to changing compliance, maintenance and reporting requirements while maintaining accurate information and vehicle availability.
The approach combines Chevin’s FleetWave platform with customer self-service, ongoing support and fleet expertise, with the aim of allowing businesses to adapt reporting, workflows and operational processes over time.
Richard Clark, global head of product at Chevin Fleet Solutions, said: “Fleet operations are constantly changing, which means maintaining control is an ongoing process.
“What was important when a system was first implemented may be very different a year or two later.

“Fleets, regulations and operational priorities evolve, so the way the technology is used needs to evolve with them if organisations are to continue getting maximum value from their investment.
“New compliance requirements, changes to the fleet, maintenance priorities and increasing reporting demands all create additional pressure.
“Fleet teams need accurate information and the ability to act on it quickly if they are going to remain in control.”

FleetWave brings fleet information into a single system covering areas including compliance, maintenance, reporting and operational performance.
It provides centralised data and role-based information, alongside alerts and reminders to highlight issues requiring action.

Chevin said technology needs to be combined with an understanding of individual fleet operations, particularly as automation and artificial intelligence become increasingly prominent.

The company believes these technologies should complement rather than replace fleet expertise.
Clark added: “Technology gives fleet teams the tools to manage their operations, but there still needs to be a clear understanding of how those tools are applied to real-world fleet challenges.
“Every fleet operates differently. Our role is not simply to provide software, but to work with customers, understand what they are trying to achieve and help ensure the platform continues to support them as their operations evolve.
“That combination of technology, fleet expertise and an ongoing partnership is where we believe significant value can be created.”

Chevin describes the combination of an adaptable platform, self-service capabilities, ongoing partnership and fleet expertise as its Value Loop, reflecting its aim for fleet technology to continue generating operational value throughout the life of the system.
Clark said: “Good fleet technology should continue to become more useful as the operation develops.
“The objective is to give fleet teams the information, flexibility and support they need to stay compliant, keep vehicles available and make informed decisions – not just immediately after implementation, but throughout the life of the system.”
