Chris Black appointed head of fleet at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles

FORMER Lombard Vehicle Management man, Chris Black, has been appointed to the newly created role of head of fleet at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. Chris, who spent 17 years at Lombard Vehicle Management, takes up his new role at Volkswagen on 09 June 2014. Chris was previously UK head of corporate coverage at Lombard. Swapping from vehicle management to van sales, Chris Black will be at the forefront of Volkswagen’s van fleet operation. He will report directly to Andrew Waite, head of sales operations for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. Andrew Waite commented on Black’s appointment: “We are really excited that Chris is joining the team. His appointment comes as we look to strengthen our fleet team. His automotive and financial sector customer relationship management experience is an ideal fit for the brand and we are confident he will contribute significantly to the success of our fleet business.” Chris joins while Volkswagen are riding the crest of van sales, posting its best-ever first quarter light commercial vehicle registrations of 10,757 – up 19 per cent on 2013. The Volkswagen Transporter was also named Business Van of the Year in our Business Van of the Year Awards 2014.
