Chevrolet has launched the Corvette E-Ray at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The E-Ray is both the first electrified Corvette, as well as the first all-wheel drive Corvette, and is now on sale in the UK, following its US launch in 2023.
Based on the eighth-generation, mid-engined ‘C8’ Corvette, the first to be sold in right-hand-drive, the E-Ray features a 6.2-litre LT2 V8, producing 482PS, along with a 161PS electric motor on the front axle, for a combined 643PS, and a 0-62 time of 2.9 seconds.
The electric motor decreases the Corvette’s 0-62 time by half a second, without the need to plug-in.
C8 Corvette models also feature Active Fuel Management (AFM), allowing the V8 to run on four cylinders, for better efficiency.
The model is available to order now, with prices starting at £153,440 for a coupe model with removable roof, or £159,230 for a convertible.
The E-Ray’s 1.9kWh battery allows for up to four miles of all-electric driving, using ‘Stealth Mode’
All E-Rays will have carbon ceramic brakes, Magnetic Ride Control 4.0, and the wide-body from the high-performance Z06 model.
It also features a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, and lane keep assist with lane departure warning.
E-Ray models are offered in 10 different colours, with four alloy wheel finishes and optional carbon fibre wheels, as well as a choice of three seat designs and more than 20 interior colours.
