Flexible fit – If you need a car solution that changes with your business then daily hire may be your solution

IF your business needs a company car for a short duration – daily hire could well be the answer.

No matter whether it’s a car or a van, you can rent a vehicle of your choice for anything from one day to six months or even longer. The choice is yours, and flexibility means you can alter the duration as you go along if necessary.

You will, however, pay more pro rata for a shorter rental period than for a longer one. The longer the vehicle hire, the more competitive the cost.

In almost all cases there is no limit on the mileage you can put on the vehicle, but always ask at the outset to be sure

So what do you get for your money?

In almost all cases there is no limit on the mileage you can put on the vehicle, but always ask at the outset to be sure.

All reputable company’s vehicles come with 24-hour roadside assistance, road tax and VAT. Fuel costs are never included.

For real short duration rentals most companies are happy to take the rental provider’s insurance cover but you can, if you choose, insure the vehicle under your company’s own insurance. This becomes more viable the longer you rent for.

What type of vehicle is available on daily hire?

The choice is yours. From a run-of-the-mill family hatchback or workhorse van to an up-market limousine. But be aware that if you do go for a prestige car you could face mileage and or age limitations.

If you do hire a specialist or prestige vehicle you can specify exactly which model you want. For more general models, however, daily vehicle hire companies group them into types – eg mini, economy, compact – and engine sizes so you book a category rather a specific make or model.

Can we have the vehicle delivered?

Yes. All reputable companies will provide a delivery and collection service.

How could my business use daily hire?

Daily hire offers the sort of flexibility that some businesses need to be able to react quickly to changing circumstances. It also frees them up from the constraints of long term contracts which can prove uneconomical if there are long periods when the vehicles are not being used to their full capacity. It also keeps financial exposure to a minimum.

Another benefit is fulfilling duty of care issues – so rather than a staffer using their own private car on business, a daily hire car – which is fit for purpose and properly maintained – can be the answer to managing the issue.

If you are interested in longer periods you could look into monthly car hire.
