E.ON Next has partnered with myenergi to give EV drivers with a compatible zappi charger access to the 8p per kWh off-peak rate on its Next Drive Smart tariff via the E.ON Next app.

Next Drive Smart is designed to give households an 8p per kWh rate every night from midnight to 6am.

Customers plug the car in and set their charging preferences using the E.ON Next Home app, and the tariff is then applied.

In a development, when grid capacity is available, the app can schedule additional charging during the day.

Steve Davies, director of strategy and commercial at E.ON Next, said: “With Next Drive Smart, plugging in at home unlocks cheaper electricity for longer across the home.

“Our partnership with myenergi means customers with a compatible zappi charger and the E.ON Next app can automatically access off-peak rates at other times when grid capacity is available — with no monitoring, no manual scheduling and no extra effort.”

Ben Harris, head of energy and mobility at myenergi, added: “We’re delighted to be working with E.ON Next.

“Our integration with the Next Drive Smart tariff means customers now have straightforward access to smarter, cheaper EV charging, without having to think about it.”

Both zappi 2.1 and zappi GLO chargers integrate with the Next Drive Smart tariff and are compatible with any make or model of electric vehicle.

Customers already on Next Drive Smart with a compatible charger can connect through the E.ON Next Home app to access the tariff.
