ECOlogical van test: CPC awarded
Benefit from improved mpg, lower operating costs
AN ECOlogical driving test, establishing a driver’s fuel ECOnomy and crash avoidance skills, has been launched in Britain and Ireland. The voluntary 90-minute test provides a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) – the latter is now mandatory for all drivers of goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, including vans. The developers of the test says it is the the first-ever ‘cash-saving at the wheel’ qualification. It is aimed directly at professional van drivers. Costing £160 the Eco-Advanced Driving Test aims to save van operators and business van managers by instructing drivers to:- Cut fuel consumption to at least 15% below the vehicle’s official average;
- Reduce damage incident risks and vehicle wear and tear by up to 60%;
- Provide vehicle insurance discounts up to the maximum allowable.
