Just as Honda is about to launch its new SUV, the ever popular CR-V , the brand finds itself bereft of a head of fleet sales.
Ed Hummel, after 18 months in the post and having introduced the latest generation Civic hatchback, is turning his back on Honda for the valuation experts at Glass’s Guide, where he’ll be sales director.
Dave Hodgetts, managing director, of Honda said:
“I’d like to thank Ed for his great contribution to Honda over the last 18 months.
“He has been instrumental in building Honda’s presence in the fleet market. His new post at Glass’s is an excellent opportunity and I wish him every success for the future.”
Honda says it has increased its fleet sales by 16 per cent year to date, but is desperately waiting for a new 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engine that won’t arrive until next year.
The 1.6 diesel, promising low CO2 emissions, reduced company car tax, and improved running costs for an SME small fleet, has the potential to increase the Honda Civic’s company car appeal dramatically.
Honda says a successor to Ed will be announced shortly.
