Fleet Alliance has added more functionality to the driver app within its fleet management platform, e-Fleet, to recognise the growing numbers of electric cars.
The e-Fleet app produced by the Glasgow-based fleet management and leasing specialist is personalised for each driver irrespective of the vehicle funder, and contains all the support information a driver might need for their specific vehicle, as well as allowing company car and salary-sacrifice car drivers to order a new or replacement vehicle and carry out a host of essential tasks.
Over the first six months of 2024 Fleet Alliance has seen continual growth of battery electric (BEV) and hybrid (HEV) vehicles within its managed fleet of more than 30,000 vehicles in the first six months of the year.

More drivers have switched from ICE models to take advantage of the cost and environmental benefits of running electric or hybrid vehicles, including major savings in BIK tax. From January to the end of June, some 77% of new vehicle orders from Fleet Alliance have been BEVs (42%) and HEVs (35%), the highest market share for both model types the company has recorded to date.
The new version of the e-Fleet driver app represents a significant technical upgrade, offering consistency of appearance across all platforms, but with a particular focus on a greatly streamlined mobile interface alongside a number of functionality improvements.
Amongst a host of driver support services, the app allows drivers to submit a regular vehicle inspection report at any interval designated by their employer. They can also input business and personal mileage and log all essential business trips.
The available actions allow fleet managers to push out notifications to drivers for regular fleet management tasks to ensure they are being carried out, even remotely, as well as addressing health and safety and duty of care issues, thus reducing potential road risk.
Commenting on the app update, Fleet Alliance CEO, Andy Bruce said that making life as easy as possible for the driver is hugely important. e-Fleet offers fleet managers an essential tool for keeping drivers fully supported and self-sufficient while on the road, and helps reduce the administrative burden of supporting drivers on a day-to-day basis.
“The new wave of electric vehicles coming on to fleets are often like mobile phones on wheels with intuitive interfaces… So it was important that our e-Fleet driver app kept pace with the market and provided an upgraded driver experience,” Bruce added.
Drivers can access the new look e-Fleet app and its upgraded user interface by logging onto the app or by simply clicking login at the top right of the Fleet Alliance website.
