Europcar has added new electric van models to its fleet, in a wide range of sizes, to help individuals and fleets meet their needs.

It has added the Vauxhall Combo and Vivaro Electric, Renault Kangoo E-Tech, Peugeot E-Expert, Ford E-Transit Custom and Mercedes-Benz eVito.

Research conducted by Europcar found that 39% of van fleets do not operate electric models, with 38% of those saying it was because electric vans are not fit for purpose.

46% of fleets that did not operate electric vans said they would add them if they had longer ranges.

Keith Shorter, director at Europcar Vans and Trucks, said: “We have found that when van users rent electric for the first time, most of their previous concerns and anxieties are resolved.

“We have boosted our e-van fleet to help more drivers and fleet managers benefit from this real-world experience of electric driving, without the commitment of buying or long-term leasing a vehicle with which they are unfamiliar.

“Increasing the breadth of choice and growing the fleet to increase vehicle availability at a wider range of locations across our network will help more businesses find out how electric vans can fit into their business.

“Our growing fleet of electric vans, complemented by expert support at every stage of the rental, is helping commercial vehicle drivers confidently switch to greener mobility.”

Customers who rent an electric van from Europcar receive access to Octopus Electroverse, including its real-time charger map which shows availability, charging speed and costs.
