Europcar is offering existing customers a free trial of its Chapter 8 compliant Volkswagen e-Transporter electric van.

The three-week trial will allow infrastructure and construction companies to see how electric vans fit their operations.

Europcar will build customised vehicles to meet customer needs and preferences following the free trial.

The Europcar e-Transporter is fully equipped and Chapter 8 compliant, with a 50W solar roof panel to power internal equipment, a light bar and the required chevron livery.

The solar roof panel, provided by Genie Insights, assists with powering the fan, lights, and other electrical equipment

The add-ons fitted to the demo vehicle can be added to long-term rental electric vans from Europcar.

Tom Middleditch, head of B2B marketing and sustainability spokesperson at Europcar, said: “Manufacturer test-drives of similar vehicles are usually a maximum of 72 hours, which doesn’t provide drivers and their employers with a full picture of e-van life in all weathers, road conditions and job types.

“We know from experience that even reluctant electric drivers feel more positive about making the switch after a real-world test drive.

“We believe that by offering the Volkswagen e-Transporter for a significant three week length free trial, will help reduce fleet emissions in the longer-term.”
