EXCLUSIVE: Reducing cost and saving lives, Nyanya Joof on Motive’s AI driver support system – ABP

Deploying AI telematics systems can support fleets in reducing costs, as well as reducing on-the-road risks for drivers, according to Nyanya Joof, regional vice president of UK Markets at Motive, in the latest episode of the Automotive Business Podcast (ABP).

Joof discussed the use of AI telematics systems in exonerating drivers when accidents occur, which then builds trust in the system among drivers.

Joof said: “Recognition is a powerful tool for driver engagement and retention.

“AI platform simplifies this by automatically surfacing positive driving behaviour in real time.

She added: “Ultimately, the breakthrough comes when drivers and operators can see that AI can both protect the good drivers and help build a safety culture.

“That is when trust grows quickly, and once that happens, adoption tends to accelerate pretty fast.”

Proving the concept to drivers is key when implementing new safety features, however, their initial reservations tend to focus around the surveilance element of the AI tracking, Joof said.

She added: “Once you are able to prove that the value is tangible, that is when the perception shifts and the conversation shifts to something that is there to protect them and help them every day.”
