Fiat has added a third powertrain choice to its 600 model, a 136hp petrol-electric hybrid model joining the already available 100hp hybrid and fully-electric versions in showrooms.
Both hybrid versions of there 600, which is effectively a larger version of Fiat’s highly successful 500 city car, use a 0.89kWh battery mounted under the front passenger seat so as not to impinge on boot space.
The 48V electric architecture is matched to a 1.2 litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine driving through an electrified six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
The 136 hybrid records an 8.5-second 0-62mph time, 2.4 seconds faster than its 100hp sibling, and also has a 10mph higher terminal speed at 124mph. CO2 emissions are quoted at 109g/km and fuel consumption of 57.6mpg (WLTP Combined), making the car eligible for a 26% benefit-in-kind tax rate (2024-25).
As in the existing two models two trim levels are available for the 136hp hybrid, a standard version and a more heavily equipped La Prima – which includes larger alloy wheels, Eco-Leather seats, autonomous driving (level 2), a driver seat-massage function and wireless phone charging. In line with the increasing industry trend there is no options list, the only choices being powertrain and colour.
Dealers are now taking orders for the 136hp hybrid Fiat 600, with first deliveries expected in late October 2024.
