IT was Volvo’s first SUV crossover and it has lasted well, but after twelve years, it’s time for a new Volvo XC90.
Now the company has provided the first hints about the second-generation car, starting with the interior, which it says will be the most luxurious ever found in a Volvo.
The most notable feature is a tablet-style touch screen control console used to control the new XC90’s in-car systems. This system eliminates swathes of physical buttons and will provide access to a range of internet-based products and services.
Volvo is also emphasising the quality of materials used in the new XC90’s cabin, which include soft leather and wood, and a gear-lever made of crystal glass from Orrefors, the famous Swedish glass maker, with diamond-cut controls for the start/stop button and volume controls adding to the jewel-like interior.
