For almost a decade car brands such as Mercedes, BMW and Audi have had a firm grip on this market with alternatives rarely coming close to the levels of luxury, refinement and performance offered by the Germans.

However, after being absent from the compact executive car class for almost 6 years, Jaguar is looking to take a healthy slice of the company car cake.

The new XE saloon debuted at the Paris Motor Show earlier this month and has the Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series well within its sights.
