Five year breakdown cover for new Hyundai SUV

IF YOU want peace of mind then this it – Hyundai is launching free five year RAC breakdown cover on its new ix35 crossover SUV.

The breakdown cover will be transferrable as and when the vehicle is sold on.

In addition to the breakdown cover, the Hyundai ix35 will also be covered by a five year, unlimited mileage warranty.

Hyundai UK managing director Tony Whitehorn said: “There are no caveats as far as the warranty is concerned. The vehicle is covered for five years even if you are doing 30,000 or 40,000 miles a year.”

That sort of reassuring back up will be useful for those companies with high-mileage company cars. The Hyundai ix35 will be launched on March 25.

It comes in two- and four- wheel drive specification and initially equipped with 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines. Four-wheel drive will only be available on diesel models.

Smaller 1.6-petrol and 1.7-diesel engines, plus automatic versions, will arrive in September. Prices are expected to start at around L16,500.

The ix35 is pitched directly against Nissan’s successful Qashqai crossover. “We are already seeing that people are no longer seeing these smaller SUVs and crossovers as gas-guzzlers. Drivers don’t necessarily need four-wheel drive but they do like the high, command driving position,” said Mr Whitehorn.

“The 1.7-litre diesel has a CO2 figure of just 139g/km which is better than most family hatchbacks,” Mr Whitehorn added.

Hyundai’s ISG stop-start system is standard on diesel models while downhill brake control, hill-start assist and emergency flashing stop lights are features on all models.

The ix35 will come in two trim levels, Style and Premium. The latter equipped with panoramic roof, satellite navigation and park assist as standard.
