Fleet Assist sets out to grow mobile unit fleet to 1,200 in H2

The network team at Fleet Assist is forecasting that its fleet of mobile units could exceed 1,200 by the end of 2026, to keep pace with the increase in demand from its leasing, rental and salary sacrifice customers.

Fleet Assist has grown its network of mobile service units, with more than 300 added in the first six months of the year to take its total to 900 vehicles and technicians.

This is in addition to the managed network of 9,300 service points which Fleet Assist runs to manage its customer fleet of more than 1.5m vehicles.

Fleet Assist said it is vetting and selecting mobile partners to allow for the expansion with franchised and independent dealers, national service providers and OEMs joining its network.

Fewer working parts in EVs have helped accelerate the viability of mobile service units in recent years, according to Fleet Assist, with its EV jobs rising from 0.3% in 2022 to 21.3% in 2026. eLCVs also rose from 2.3% to 7.5% in the same period.

The convenience of SMR work has also seen more Fleet Assist ICE jobs being conducted at a driver’s home or workplace car park with the volume rising from 0.2% in 2022 to 7.6% in 2026 for cars and from 0% to 1.2% for LCVs.

Nikos Kotrozos, supply chain director at fleet Assist, said: “The popularity and viability of mobile servicing within our customer base has been helped by the growth of EVs which typically have fewer parts and take less time to service than ICE vehicles.

“More customer work direction policies are advising that their driver’s SMR needs can be managed by a mobile service unit which is why we are continuing to expand our fleet.
