Switch Car Rental has selected Fleet Assist to maintain its fleet of 25,000 cars and vans.

Fleet Assist will leverage its network of 5,200 garages, and 500 mobile service vans to carry out servicing, maintenance, and repair (SMR) work on Switch’s fleet.

Grant Capel, head of fleet operations at Switch Car Rental, said: “Our team has been using the Fleet Assist network and SB Lite for a few months now, giving our central contact team greater control and visibility to manage the nationwide SMR needs of our branch network more effectively.

“We operate one of the youngest rental fleets in the UK, made up of low mileage vehicles, so it’s important we keep them in top condition.

“Partnering with the Fleet Assist garage network helps us do just that.”

Fleet Assist’s Service Booking Lite platform will be used to manage all SMR work, ensuring all work complies with Switch’s standards, and is carried out by an appropriate garage.

The firm’s ‘Paybill’ service will also be implemented, allowing all SMR costs to be consolidated into one invoice.

Capel said: “The business intelligence provided by their Atlas system has been a real game changer.

“It is particularly powerful when garages are accommodating our larger LCVs and minibuses.”

Garages are monitored continuously through Fleet Assist’s Balanced Scorecard system, maintaining standards across the network of garages.

Garry Winckley, business development director at Fleet Assist, said: “We have worked very closely over a period of a few months to finetune the setup of SB Lite for the Switch contact team.

“The roll out of the new SMR processes to the rental network has gone smoothly and they are already benefitting from greater SMR efficiencies and vehicle availability.

“Having access to a full data reporting suite also ensures greater transparency of the fleet’s SMR needs moving forward.”
