FOR EV has been awarded a tender to provide electric vehicle (EV) charging for North Lanarkshire Council, at its site in Bellshill.

The council’s fleet will be provided with charging on a subscription model, with no upfront capital cost or funding from the Government.

FOR EV said the Charging-as-a-Service model is designed specifically for fleet operators and is a financially sustainable pathway for nationwide EV adoption.

The Bellshill depot will have six DC charging bays and will be able to support other registered public sector fleets.

Lindsay Yeoman, head of sales at FOR EV, said: “We are incredibly proud to partner with North Lanarkshire Council on this transformative project.

“Our Charging-as-a-Service model is proving that the transition to electric fleets can be achieved efficiently and cost-effectively, without relying on public funds.

“This project sets a new precedent for how local authorities can embrace electrification, and we believe it will serve as a blueprint for similar initiatives across the UK.”

John McElhinney, fleet business manager at North Lanarkshire Council, said: “Across our fleet, we are moving to EVs and installing more charging points to support the transition to EVs.

“The new facility at our Bellshill depot, delivered by FOR EV, is a significant and innovative development in the council’s strategy to achieve net zero.”
