Ford reintroduces low emission ECOnetic version of Mondeo

FORD’S updated Mondeo – featuring a distinctive new grille, changed bonnet profile and updated interior – will also reintroduce a low emission ECOnetic model to the range featuring stop-start technology.

ECOnetic versions of the Mondeo – with enhanced fuel-saving technology when Ford managed to reduce all diesel Mondeo emissions down to 139g/km (see our test of the latest Mondeo diesel New low-tax diesel engines power Mondeo) were dropped from the range.

The new Mondeo ECOnetic will be available in the spring of 2011. Emissions of the Mondeo ECOnetic are 115g/km, giving the Mondeo a 13% benefit in kind company car tax rating.

The updated Mondeo range is on sale now (October).

The new Mondeo ECOnetic features a specially calibrated 115PS 1.6-litre Ford Duratorq TDCi engine with automatic stop-start.

Ford says its system, which it calls Auto-Start-Stop, can reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 5% in mixed driving conditions and 10% in urban conditions.

Other Mondeo ECOnetic features include a special aerodynamic kit, lowered suspension and low rolling resistant tyres.

Ford says fuel economy will be more than 65.6mpg.

Prioritising fuel efficiency does not have to come at the expense of luxury, says Ford. ECOnetic will be available across all Mondeo bodystyles and grades except for the Titanium S.

The newly introduced Mondeo range also includes a number of available Ford ECOnetic Technologies like Smart Regenerative Charging, the Ford Eco Mode driver information system and an Active Grille Shutter system.
