Vauxhall dealers have started taking orders for its new Frontera SUV, which is available in  electric and petrol hybrid versions at the same price.

The initial Frontera Electric model has a 44kWh battery with a WLTP-certified range of 186 miles – a  Long Range model stretching the gap between recharges to 248 miles will follow later in 2025. The battery can be recharged from 20 to 80% in around 26 minutes from a 100kW rapid charger, or 3 hours 50 minutes from an 11kW AC charger.

The Frontera Hybrid can be ordered with 100hp or 136hp 1.2 turbo engines, both with 48V hybrid technology.

Prices for both electric and 100hp hybrid models start from £23,495 on the road, while the EV is available on a  PCH deal at £349 per month, plus £349 initial rental.

Vauxhall is also launching Electric All In, its new enhanced offer for EV customers that includes eight years’ roadside assistance (including emergency charging assistance), 10,000 miles of free home charging, a £500 contribution towards an Ohme home wallbox or public charging credit and 6-months access to connected services.

The new Frontera has a similar footprint to an Astra hatchback, but offers a larger boot capacity with the rear seats folded of 1,600 litres, comparing to the 1594 litres of the Astra Sports Tourer Electric. The Frontera Hybrid, meanwhile can seat up to seven people.

The new Frontera will be available in Vauxhall’s established Design and GS specification levels, with two option packs also available.

Vauxhall managing director James Taylor describes the launch of the Frontera as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to democratise access to electric vehicles – Vauxhall now offers electric versions of every one of its car and van models.

“New Frontera opening for orders is an important milestone in making electric vehicles more accessible, as the first model in the UK market to offer an identical list price for electric and petrol hybrid versions,” Taylor said.
