Volkswagen Golf: lowest component costs in the top-seller list

THE Volkswagen Golf has the lowest component replacement cost from last year’s top 10 best selling cars.

The Golf is closely followed by the Vauxhall Astra and the Nissan Qashqai.

Analysed over 60,000 miles, the Golf proved reliably reliable when automotive data suppliers, Derwent Management Services, ran the rule with its new SMR BurnRate tool by comparing the industry average with their own data set across a given basket of vehicles.

SMR BurnRate measures the real world replacement rate of individual car components by make and model against the industry average from a recorded database of 300,000 company cars and vans.

Included items include front brakes, front disc brakes, rear brakes, rear disc brakes, bulbs, flywheel, clutch, servicing, tyres, and front wiper blades.

“The SMR BurnRate system details all the key parts that may need replacing during a vehicle’s fleet life,” commented business development manager Andy Smith, “and provides the most accurate real world operating view of component, and therefore vehicle, reliability.”

Derwent Management Services says the data will help SMEs with a small fleet of company cars control costs more effectively.
