Grey fleet disruption costs drivers 9.1 days each year, SIXT finds

Research conducted by SIXT UK found that drivers lose an average of 9.1 working days each year to grey fleet related disruption.

Seven in 10 employees surveyed said that they had been left out-of-pocket for work travel expenses.
SIXT’s research found that 75% of those who travel for work used their own vehicle, while 20% had company cars and 8% used a car share or subscription service.
8% used short-term rental and 6% used a pool car.
SIXT found that 67% of employees would like access to a flexible company vehicle, while 1% currently have access to one.
Use cases for such a vehicle included long business trips (42%), when a personal vehicle is undergoing maintenance (40%), when a different vehicle type is required (23%), to test an electric vehicle (EV) (14%) and for seasonal spikes that require extra team capacity (12%).
Employees said they valued vehicles that are clean and well maintained (40%), have inclusive insurance and maintenance (39%) and guaranteed availability (38%).
