Warranty Solutions Group (WSG) has named the Honda Jazz the most reliable used car, having analysed warranty claim data from between May 2025 and April 2026.
The Jazz had a claim rate of 3.72% with an average claim cost of £444.20.
It was followed by the Toyota Yaris (4.11%), Volkswagen T-Roc (6.35%), Toyota Aygo (6.72%) and Hyundai i10 (6.8%).
Of the top 20 most reliable used car models, the cheapest average claim was £337.85, on the Kia Picanto.
All models featured on the ranking had at least 250 warranty policies issued.

WSG found that average repair bulls increased by 7.46% from 2024 to 2025, reaching £679.24, due to an increase in labour rates and labour hours.
Average labour hours per claim were up from 1.91 in 2024 to 2.03 in 2025, while average labour rates were up 4.38% to £68.51.
Some individual repair claims exceeded £13,000, covering engine failures, as well as repairs to gearboxes and hydraulic systems.

Steph Newbery, group director at WSG, said: “Consumers often assume reliability is tied to badge prestige, but this data tells a very different story.

“Vehicles built on simpler, proven platforms are consistently delivering the strongest ownership outcomes, while more complex vehicles can create significantly greater financial exposure once manufacturer warranties expire.
“The Toyota Yaris continues to perform incredibly well because it delivers exactly what many motorists need right now – affordability, practicality and dependable long-term ownership.
“As household budgets remain under pressure, reliability is becoming a far bigger consideration for consumers than it was five years ago.
“What many drivers don’t realise is that even relatively routine repairs are becoming more expensive. Labour inflation, diagnostic complexity and rising parts costs are pushing up ownership costs across the board.

“We’re seeing more motorists actively look for protection once their manufacturer warranty expires because they want certainty around costs.
“More people are holding onto vehicles for longer, keeping cars beyond manufacturer warranty and becoming more aware of how quickly repair costs can spiral.
“Our direct-to-consumer platform was launched to give drivers a simple, transparent way to protect themselves from unexpected bills and access the same level of cover traditionally offered through dealerships.”
