IT might be camouflaged but there’s no mistaking the intent under that large rear wing.

And particularly around the famous and daunting 14 miles of twists, dips and banking that makes up the fearsome Nurburgring circuit in Germany.

Honda has set itself the target of being the fastest front-wheel drive car around the Nurburgring.

Honda was once king of the hot hatches with its Type R Civic – but having dropped the sporting model from its model inventory the good news is that it’s coming back.
Power for the car will be from a direct injection turbocharged 2.0-litre engine delivering a minimum of 280 PS – that’s 80PS more than the previous Honda Civic Type R.
Manabu Nishimae, president of Honda Motor Europe, said: “We have recently spent a week at the Nurburgring, carrying out extensive testing. We are on target, and have already set a time approaching the lap record.”
You’ll have to wait until 2015 for the hot Civic, though.
