The new i20 might be a supermini,  but its interior space is comparable to a family hatch

Class leading interior space

“I saved one of the key highlights to last. The new generation i20 might sit in the supermini sector but its spacious interior is almost akin to the family hatch sector above it.

“The new car should enable company car drivers wanting to downsize – to save on company car tax and fuel bulls – the enjoyment, sophistication and space to which they have become accustomed, but in a more compact footprint.

“In figures, the new generation i20 features a wheelbase 45mm longer (now 2570mm) to liberate that interior space and provide a genuine five-seater car.

“There’s class leading combined front and rear legroom of 1892mm and the car’s sense of spaciousness is further enhanced with the full length panoramic sunroof which floods light into the cabin.

“There’s plenty of space in the boot, too, which has been increased by 10% to a class-leading 326 litres (previously 295 litres). You can also extend the boot area by folding the rear seats flat for 1042 litres.

“There’s a two-stage floor in the boot for additional versatility either to conceal items or create additional storage volume.

“So all in all it’s a large feeling supermini without any of the compromises you would expect in a car from this class.”
