The Hyundai Inster, the Korean brand’s first European small electric SUV, will cost from under £24,000 when it arrives in showrooms before the end of 2024.
Equipped with a 42kWh battery as standard but also available with a long-range 49kWh unit, the Inster is powered by a single motor rated at 97hp for the standard car and 115hp in the Long-Range model, which is WLTP-certified at up to 229 miles between charges.
Inster models will be available in two trim levels, dubbed 01 and 02 – the 01 is on offer with both batteries, at £23,495 for the 42kWh battery (with a quoted range of 203 miles) and £25,045 for the 49kWh version (increasing range to 220 miles). The 02 uses the larger unit only, costing from £26,745.
Standard equipment on the 01 includes twin 10.25-inch digital instrument and central infotainment touchscreen displays, connected car services with over-the-air updates, rear parking sensors with a rear view camera and dynamic parking control, smart cruise control with stop/go, automatic headlights and keyless entry and start/stop button.
The Inster 02 adds larger alloy wheels, front parking sensors, LED projection headlamps and LED rear lights, privacy glass and roof rails. Inside there is ambient lighting with a choice of 64 colours, fold flat front seats and a sliding rear bench, heated front seats and steering wheel, an automatically dimming rear view mirror and wireless charging pad.
Buyers of the 02 can also specify some options, including a black contrast roof and door mirrors and a ‘Tech Pack’ – this includes a Vehicle2Load internal 3-pin plug to power external electrical items from the car and a Digital Key system that allows the vehicle to be unlocked and started with a compatible smartphone.
All versions of the Inster also include a comprehensive package of driver-assistance technology, extending to a Surround View Monitor and a rear Parking Collision-Avoidance assistant.
