Hyundai has unveiled a facelifted version of its Ioniq 6 electric saloon at the Seoul Mobility Show in Korea with the major change being a redesign of the rear bodywork.
The revamp, less than three years after the car first launched, sees the ‘duck tail’ sweeping rear end and double spoiler make way for what the car’s designers describe as “more refined curves and enhanced proportions.”
The shape follows that of the R22e Rolling Lab, a race-themed concept car first shown in 2022 and itself previewing the Ioniq 6 N version of the car, which is set to appear later in 2025. A preview variant of the 6 N is also on display at the Korean show.
The rear end design now incorporates a single, less prominent spoiler which is said to be equally aerodynamically efficient, while further body changes include a ‘shark-nose front design with much slimmer headlights and a front splitter, along with a raised bonnet line.
Few changes have been applied to the car’s interior, but the car does include a redesigned centre console layout, a larger climate control display and changes to the steering wheel, along with upgraded trim materials.
The car has also undergone no technical changes, retaining its existing choice of single or dual-motor powertrains with a 77.4kWh battery.
“Ioniq 6 has evolved from a single Electrified Streamliner into a lineup, each model expressing its own character while staying true to one refined vision,” said Simon Loasby, Senior Vice President and Head of the Hyundai Design Centre.
“Under the evolved design concept of ‘Pure Flow, Refined’, we’ve enhanced every line and detail to make Ioniq 6 simpler and more progressive,” Loasby added.
