My Q50 is powered by the punchy new 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, with seven-speed automatic transmission. Admittedly with its lower emissions, the 2.2-litre diesel might be a better option for business car buyers (128 g/km versus 151g/km for our petrol). the top speed of my Q50 is a licence-losing 152mph
Still, considering the top speed of my Q50 is a licence-losing 152mph, with acceleration to 62mph taking just 7.2 seconds, the 41mpg I’ve seen on motorway trips is quite impressive and close to the combined figure of 43.5 mpg.
Talking of motorway driving, the Q50 has proved to be an effortless mile-muncher. The seat and driving position in the Infiniti are first-rate, even after 200 mile trips I’ve got out of this car ache-free and feeling fresh.
Away from the motorway, the Q50’s taut handling feels secure and fun – especially in Sport mode. Despite the gorgeous 19-inch rims, the ride remains reasonably comfy too. Then, when it’s time to park up, the 360 degree monitor makes parking a breeze.
On top of good space in the front of this Infiniti, there’s proved to be more than enough legroom in the back of the Q50 for my two kids and the deep boot can swallow my golf clubs easily.
So a great start to my time with the Infiniti then. I’m certainly looking forward to spending much more time behind the wheel.
