InstaVolt hits 1,000 EV charging sites with GeniePoint acquisition
The acquired estate includes charging locations at local authority car parks, motorway services, retail and hospitality destinations across the UK.
InstaVolt is set to operate more than 1,000 EV charging sites nationwide after agreeing to acquire 228 charging locations from the GeniePoint network.
The acquisition, which is subject to regulatory approvals and expected to complete during the next quarter, will add more than 260 chargers to InstaVolt’s network.
It will take the company to more than 4,250 chargers across around 1,200 locations, reinforcing its position as the UK’s largest ultra-rapid public charging network.
The acquired estate includes charging locations at local authority car parks, motorway services, retail and hospitality destinations across the UK.
It also includes a framework agreement with a number of national brands and more than 100 charging sites located within local authority car parks.
InstaVolt said it will rebrand and upgrade all acquired locations over the next 12 months.
The investment programme will include enhanced grid connections, battery energy storage systems, improved signage and the installation of BYD ultra-rapid charging technology.
The company expects to increase the number of chargers across the acquired sites from more than 260 to over 400, while introducing its contactless payment system, no-subscription model and network reliability, which it said delivers more than 99% uptime.
