Kia has finally revealed the PV5, the first model in the Korean brand’s long-awaited electric commercial vehicle range.
The PV5 was unveiled at the 2025 Kia EV Day, held in Tarragona, Spain, and will make its UK debut at the CV Show, held at the NEC in Birmingham from 29th April to 1st May. Sales will begin in Korea and European markets in the latter half of 2025.
Described as a car-derived van, the PV5 will be available in passenger, cargo and chassis cab variants and will be the first vehicle built as part of the brand’s new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) global business strategy.
Kia’s commercial EVs are being constructed on a version of the Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP platform which already underpins popular electric passenger models such as the Kia EV6.
A ‘skateboard’ format platform, the E-GMP.S has a flat surface which allows easy fitment of a wide range of vehicle bodies – it will form the basis of Kia’s complete PBV commercial line-up which is set to include severs sizes of vehicle.
The PV5 Passenger has a three-row seat configuration, which can be optimised for luggage or camping scenarios and has been developed with ride-hailing use in mind.
The PV5 Cargo will be marketed in standard, long, and high-roof versions offering up to 5.1 cubic metres of load volume. An optional L-track mounting system will be available as will vehicle-to-load to power external devices.
The PV5 Chassis Cab is based on the front section of the PV5 Cargo and has been developed to support a diverse range of conversion configurations, from Drop Side to Freezer Box models.
All versions will be available with 51.5kWh or 71.2kWh batteries, while the PV5 Cargo will also have a 43.3kWh battery option. All are powered by a front-mounted motor of 120kW (163hp) and 250Nm of torque and kia states that depending on the individual specification of vehicles range will be up to close to 250 miles with a fast-charge time of 30 minutes.
The full UK specification of the PV5 will be announced at a later date.
