Kia sets new UK half-year sales record with 65,300 registrations

Kia has recorded its best-ever first half, Q2 and June in the UK, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

The brand registered 65,300 vehicles in the first half of the year, making it the UK’s third best-selling brand and setting a new company record.

Of the total, 62,845 were cars, with the remainder made up of Kia’s PBV commercial vehicles.

Kia also registered more than 10,000 cars in June for the first time.

The brand recorded 18,241 all-electric vehicle registrations in the first half of the year, putting it on the podium of the UK EV sales charts.

Kia said its electric line-up, comprising the EV2, EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6 and EV9, alongside the PV5 Passenger, was one of the most comprehensive available in the UK.

All-electric models accounted for 29% of Kia’s total sales, rising to 31.7% when PBVs are included.

The Kia Sportage remained the UK’s favourite family SUV and the second best-selling car in the UK, with 25,828 registrations year-to-date.

Kia’s smaller models also continued to perform strongly, with the Picanto city car recording 6,939 registrations and the Stonic compact crossover reaching 4,725 registrations so far this year.

Kia said it is now one of 7 brands offering vehicles that qualify for the highest Government Electric Car Grant. The Kia EV2, EV3, EV4 and PV5 Passenger qualify for the grant, with selected grades of the EV2 and EV4 eligible for the maximum Band 1 grant.

The manufacturer launched its Q3 2026 customer offers on 1st July, including loyalty incentives for existing Kia finance customers and finance packages across its model range.

The offers include new Storm offers for the new Sportage and EV5 Storm grades, 3.9% APR finance across Kia’s fully electric line-up, 5.9% APR on selected petrol and hybrid models, finance deposit contributions and targeted savings for customers upgrading to new Kia vehicles.

Kia is also now the third biggest brand in the UK fully electric LCV market, with a 17.4% share following the launch of the PV5 Cargo and PV5 Passenger.

The PV5 Cargo and PV5 Passenger mark Kia’s entry into the UK light commercial vehicle market. Kia said the models combine cargo volume, payload and passenger-carrying ability with a 7-year or 100,000-mile warranty.

PV5 Cargo pricing starts from £27,355 plus VAT, with the model available through Kia PBV Centres.
