Kia has revealed the latest member of the Korean brand’s bespoke electric vehicle range, the EV4.

The new model, which will sit between the recently launched EV3 and the forthcoming EV5 SUV, will be offered in both hatch and saloon form, though it is not yet clear whether the saloon version will be sold on the UK market which has traditionally vastly favoured the hatch format.

Kia unveiled an EV4 concept in 2023, describing it then as an entirely new type of EV saloon fusing the looks of saloon and coupe-SUV. Visually the production version remains very close to the concept.

Kia is so far giving no technical details of the newcomer, as these will be announced at the ‘2025 Kia Day’ held in Tarragona, Spain on 24th February. But the EV4 is expected to rival such models as the Hyundai Kona Electric, Renault Megane E-Tech and Volkswagen ID.3.

Being built on Kia’s E-GM3 platform used by other models in the EV range, the EV4 is also expected to replicate the powertrains of those models, with a choice of  58kWh or 81kWh battery packs, plus single front-mounted or double all-wheel-drive motors. Maximum range is predicted to be 350 miles or above.

A performance version is also likely wearing the GT badge already applied to the EV6 and EV9 – the EV4 GT is likely to rival the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2.
