The Ford Transit Connect Tourneo has just been awarded the top 5 stars by NCAP

THE nice people at Euro NCAP have been crash-testing more vehicles – and this time they’ve included a raft of ‘kombi’ models which are pretty close to vans.

Kombis have seats and windows and therefore are not classed as commercial vehicles. But as they are built the same we can assume that they will act similarly to the van variants in the event of a prang.

The new Ford Transit Connect Tourneo gained five-stars, matching the performance of its bigger brother the Transit Custom.

Meanwhile the Volkswagen T5 Transporter Kombi gained four stars along with the Mercedes-Benz Citan Kombi, which was re-assessed after only gaining three stars in the last set of tests.

“The Tourneo Connect gives active families the space and versatility they need to live life to the full,” said Stephen Lesh, Tourneo Connect chief program engineer, Ford of Europe.

“This significant endorsement from Euro NCAP shows that we know how important safety is for our customers too.”
