Larger Vauxhall Grandland SUV adds electric option

EV with 325-mile range due to joined in 2025 by 435-mile version.

Vauxhall has announced prices for its second-generation Grandland, which will become the top model in the brand’s fully updated line-up of SUVs.

The new Grandland is larger than its predecessor and available for the first time as a full battery-electric vehicle (BEV) alongside the hybrid version. The electric model comes with a 73kWh battery and 325-mile (WLTP) range.

The Grandland is, however, the first Vauxhall to use parent company Stellantis’s STLA Medium platform, also under the latest Peugeot e-3008.  This can accommodate a 98kWh battery and electric range of up to 435 miles  and the longer-range Grandland EV is expected to be available in 2025.

Prices for the new Grandland start from £34,700 on-the-road, which buys the hybrid model with a three-cylinder petrol engine of 136hp. Electric versions cost from £40,995, while Vauxhall is also offering PCP deals of £469 a month plus a £2,000 deposit across both. versions, the PCP running over four years on the hybrid and five years for the EV.

The newcomer measures up 170mm longer than its predecessor at 4650mm and is also wider and higher. it has a 550-litre boot with up to 1,645 litres of storage space across the vehicle. Among the interior storage compartments is an illuminated glass  ‘pixel box’ – standard on all but entry trim this is mounted ahead of the gear selector and includes a wireless smartphone charging pad.

Three trim levels are available, dubbed Design, GS and Ultimate. Standard equipment includes a 10-inch infotainment screen with wireless Smartphone compatability, front and rear parking sensors and dual-zone climate control.  EV customers are also being offered free fitment of a wallbox or ‘one year’s free charging’ at Tesco stores.
