Stellantis in-house leasing operation Leasys UK has added electric vehicles (EVs) from the group’s new-to-the-UK Chinese brand Leapmotor to its long-term rental options.

Leapmotor International, which is 51% owned by Stellantis, is in the process of launching onto the UK market with two electric models, the T03 city car and C10 compact SUV.

The T03, which has launched as one of the cheapest EVs on the market, offers a range of up to 165 miles. On Leasys Business Contract Hire it is available  from £236 per month, with an initial rental of £1,416.

The C10 has a range of up to 261 miles and is available from £317 per month on Business Contract Hire, with an initial rental of £1,902.

Leasys believes the long-term rental formula will appeal to motorists who want to explore switching to electric motoring without the major outlay of buying an EV. The new Leapmotor models will also help in the aim stated by Leasys of having 1 million vehicles on its fleet by 2026.

Leasys UK managing director Shane Coomber said that the arrival of the Leapmotor models would help to increase the appeal of electric vehicles. “This new product range further enhances our EV customer offering and experience, as we look to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles.”

Leapmotor is expected to add a mid-sized crossover called the B10 to its UK range before the end of the year while there are also reports that the C10 line-up will gain a range-extender version – these models have small petrol engines not connected to the wheels and only generating energy for the electric drivetrain, giving the EV experience without having to plug in and likely to appeal further to those interested but wavering over switching to electric.
